Welcome to the Ithaca Children's School

The Ithaca Children's School offers a Waldorf-inspired education for children from birth through sixth grade. We strive to develop free human beings by awakening in our students clarity of thought, warmth of heart, and strength of purpose. The academic, artistic, and practical lessons respect childhood, encourage healthy growth, and engage students in the living world. The work of Rudolf Steiner provides a cohesive philosophy which guides the teachers, shapes the curriculum, and enriches our community.

All programs are designed to provide the highest quality academic, emotional, and social preparation for the complexities of today's world. In addition to a full five-day program, we offer a three-day program for home schoolers.

Visit ICS in January

Parents who are considering enrolling their children in ICS can learn more about the school at several different events in January:

Open House: Saturday, January 10th, 1-3 p.m., 391 & 399 Turkey Hill Road. Visit the buildings and outdoor spaces at the Stone Circle Campus, meet teachers and parents, and see what the students at the school have been doing.

Open Classroom: Thursday, January 15th, 8:45-11 a.m. Foundation of Light, 391 Turkey Hill Road. Experience the unique environment of our Waldorf-inspired school by quietly observing a classroom in action from the sidelines. Please plan to arrive promptly at 8:45. To respect the integrity of the classroom experience and to diminish distraction for the students, please come unaccompanied by your children. Your RSVP is appreciated; call us at 273-5184 or use the form on the Contact page.

An Introduction to First Grade: Wednesday, January 28th, Foundation of Light, 391 Turkey Hill Road, 7-9 p.m. Are you curious about the experiences of first graders at ICS? Meet first grade teacher Andi Sutherland and view the work of our current first grade children. This evening is open to all parents, especially those who have children in kindergarten.
