Beginning: August 26th, 2019

The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and motivated teacher as an AfterSchool teacher five days/week from 2:15-5:45 pm.   Ideal candidates are friendly, open, well-spoken, warm, and interested in eventually completing full certification as Waldorf Early Childhood teachers.  The Ithaca Waldorf School has three Early Childhood classrooms, each taught by a lead kindergarten teacher with an assistant.

All candidates should be able to provide a safe, nurturing and orderly environment which meets the needs of the children in her/his care.  Outdoor play and visits to the neighboring organic farm are part of the daily After-school program for children of all ages.   Successful applicants are encouraged to bring age-appropriate games and hand-craft activities to the children for the AfterSchool program.  Guidance will be provided by the Faculty mentors. It is expected that the teacher will leave a clean and orderly classroom at the end of each day.   Professional development money is available to assist employees with furthering their knowledge and understanding of Waldorf education.  Compensation is $13.50/hour, partial tuition remission after three months of successful employment, and includes health benefits.

The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction through Grade 8.  A fully-accredited member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN), we are currently a developing school with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.  The Ithaca Waldorf School is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of field, forest and a biodynamic and educational farm (www.youthfarmproject.org).

Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, which offer our community a rich cultural life. The city is situated at the foot of beautiful Cayuga Lake, and is a wonderful place to raise a family. (www.visitithaca.com)
