Kaori was born and grew up in Japan. She received a BA in English & American Literature with a concentration in Native American Literature and African American Women’s Literature at Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo, Japan.
In 1996, Kaori came to the U.S. and started her career in the Early Childhood Education field. She worked with children from infancy to kindergarten age in various settings, which included Montessori- and Waldorf-inspired programs. In 2006, Kaori went back to graduate school to study social work. In 2009, she earned her MSW at Binghamton University.
In the past eight years, she served emotionally disturbed elementary and middle school children and their families as a licensed social worker and day treatment counselor at a special education program.
Kaori enjoys being a mom to her 6 year old son, reading, singing, drawing, knitting, cooking, running, and looking at clouds.
