First Grade & Music Teacher
Kelly Meehan holds a B.M. in Music Education (emphasis on vocal, general music) from Ithaca College. She completed the Grade One Intensive training at Sunbridge Institute. Before joining the Ithaca Waldorf School family, she student taught preschool general music, BOCES general music/modern band, high school choral music, and high school theater. Additionally, she has worked with varying ages of children and teens at a nature based summer camp fostering children’s nature connection and primitive skills.
Ms. Meehan first heard of Waldorf education while researching alternative forms of education. The magical world of Waldorf seemed very appealing to her since it aligned most with her educational philosophy. Ms. Meehan believes that it is essential to educate the whole child and to foster the child’s natural learning process through interactive and play based learning experiences.
When Ms. Meehan is not teaching she can be found singing, exploring nature, gardening, or practicing yoga.
