Ms. Freer holds a B.S. in Human Development (emphasis on Adult Development & Aging) from The Pennsylvania State University. She studied Waldorf Education at Sunbridge Institute and Antioch University, receiving her Waldorf Grades Teaching Certificate from Antioch in 2010.
Lori first learned about Rudolf Steiner upon joining a biodynamic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) when she was pregnant with her first child. While studying The Agriculture Course with the farmers, she learned that Steiner’s work also included ideas about education of children and, indeed, development throughout the lifespan.
When she moved to Ithaca, Lori assisted in a Waldorf Early Childhood program and at the Stone Circle School, a Waldorf-inspired program for the grades. She home-schooled her two children using Steiner's recommendations. Interest in Rudolf Steiner’s philosophies of human development and the education of children led her to pursue teacher training. She sang sea shanties to help maintain calm seas as local Waldorf education initiatives merged to form theIthaca Waldorf School and has served on the board of directors.
Lori also teaches yoga and plant-based nutrition, and she enjoys Salsa dancing.
