Every parent or guardian of a child enrolled at the Ithaca Waldorf School is a member of the Parent Council. We welcome your wisdom, enthusiasm, ideas, and energy. The Parent Council has a chair responsible for organization and a steering committee comprised of two parent representatives from each classroom. Our mission is to build community among families at the school and support the faculty and administration to build a healthy, well-functioning school and wider Waldorf community.
The Parent Council meets monthly. We organize events to promote the social life of the parent community, including regular dessert and discussion get-togethers for parents to discuss topics of interest: the role of rhythm in Waldorf, raising children in a culture of infomania, or gardening and farming. We also put on the annual Harvest Faire in October and support other festivals during the school year.
If you're looking for a way to get more involved in the Ithaca Waldorf School, the Parent Council is a great place to start!
