A Glorious Michaelmas Day!

With our intern, Alistair Bennie-Underwood, supervising the apple press, we anticipate a flavorfulMichaelmas meal. There will be bread and soup for our bodies, and song to nourish the soul. If you can be here by 2:30 today, September 29th, you may join the celebration.

IWS is hiring an Early Childhood Teaching Assistant. This position is posted on our website and on Craigslist. We encourage qualified parents to apply!

The Ithaca Waldorf School ( is seeking an enthusiastic, organized and motivated teacher to assist in the Early Childhood program in the afternoon, and also within the After-school program for early childhood (ages 3-6) or grade school children.  Ideal candidates are friendly, open, well-spoken, warm, and interested in eventually completing full certification as Waldorf Early Childhood teachers. The Ithaca Waldorf School has three Early Childhood classrooms, each taught by a lead kindergarten teacher with an assistant.

All candidates should be able to provide a safe, nurturing and orderly environment which meets the needs of the children in her/his care.  Outdoor play and visits to the neighboring organic farm are part of the daily After-school program for children of all ages.   Successful applicants are encouraged to bring age-appropriate games and hand-craft activities to the children for the AfterSchool program.  Guidance will be provided by the Faculty mentors. It is expected that the teacher will leave a clean and orderly classroom at the end of each day. Professional development money is available to assist employees with furthering their knowledge and understanding of Waldorf education. The hours of this position are 12 noon - 5 pm from Monday through Friday.  Compensation is $13/hour, partial tuition remission and includes health benefits.
