Let me become who I am
There are so many people to appreciate for their efforts over the weekend, and in the weeks preceding this year’s Harvest Festival. And so many gorgeous moments to capture that I feel this could be a bulletin in pictures – but I’ll simply make sure they get onto our Facebook page for you all to admire at your leisure.
For now, I will offer just this one glimpse into the adorable charm of The Roly Poly Rice Ball:

Thursday, November 2nd Dia de los Muertos In-School Celebration, Grades
The Grades children, teachers and parents are welcome to celebrate this beautiful and festive occasion at the Ithaca Waldorf School from 8:30 to 9:00 am on Thursday, November the 2nd. We will meet in the lobby in a circle to sing together and to remember gratefully all our loved ones who are no longer with us. After the circle, we will go to the fire pit to burn the kites the children have made. Finally, we will gather in the lobby again to share some great food, a menu created by the 5th and 6th class (no nuts of any kind).
Ricardo Andres Marraccini, Profesora Marraccini's brother, will join us this week to help with the Dia de los Muertos projects and during the actual celebration. He has a Business Degree and he also comes from Chile. The only language he would be able to speak is Spanish!
Don't miss it! Nos vemos pronto!
On Thursday, November 9th Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled from 8 am until 3:30 pm and there will be NO SCHOOL. Childcare will be provided all day with at least 24 hours notice from parents who need it, please.
Don’t forget to connect with your class teacher this week to get on the schedule.
Photo Day – Tuesday, October 31st
Since we’re having our Halloween celebration on the 27th, we’re free to look not at all spooky on the 31st for individual and class photos. We will schedule a follow-up day for absentees and EC classes.
This is just a reminder to be sure to include our wonderful new school nurse, Maria Saccuccimorano, in any communications with the school related to your child’s health or plans for his/her care. Her email is firstname.lastname@example.org.
AWSNA Mentors to Visit IWS
Every year we receive a welcome and inspiring visit from our mentors on our school’s path to full membership in the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America. This is an important goal for IWS and one of the glowing embers which illuminates our purpose and being at IWS.
Sabine Kully is the Pedagogical Chair at the Garden City Waldorf School; and Bill Pernice is a former Pedagogical Chair of the Green Meadow School. They will both be with us all day Monday, October 30th. Please introduce yourself if you see them!
Let’s Go Skating!
Several families (including mine) have already registered for Monday afternoon skating at Cass Park. There’s still time to fill out a form – they’re on the front table in the foyer until the end of the week. Skating starts next Monday the 30th. Yes, already!!
And a Childcare Request . . .
The Martell-Glennon family (including Flossie, Gus and Phin) are looking for some help after school:
We are seeking a parent who wouldn't mind being responsible for our three kids- Flossie (5th) Gus (1st), and Phin (1st)- for 15-30 mins at the school, after school, up to 5 days/week as we have a pick-up conflict for the rest of the year and can't be there until 3:15 or 3:30 daily. We are offering $50/week, paid monthly. Please let Josephine know if you're interested (508) 944-0144, email@example.com. Thank you!
