This is the home of Ithaca Waldorf School, a thriving community serving students from Early Childhood through Grade Eight.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic Spanish Teacher to lead our World Language program. Whether you are a seasoned Waldorf educator or a language expert looking to transition into this Waldorf approach, we welcome your passion. While Waldorf experience is a plus, it isn’t a requirement - we provide dedicated mentorship from a certified Waldorf expert to help you flourish.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS preferred; or equivalent professional experience

  • Waldorf Teaching Certificate preferred

  • Waldorf teaching experience preferred

  • Experience teaching grade school age students

  • Teaching, interpersonal, and student management skills

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Fluency in Spanish

  • Adaptability; able to change work plan based on needs of particular class  

Responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching 11 classes per week, kindergarten through grade 8.

  • Preparing specific presentations for seasonal school festivals (Dia de los Muertos, school assemblies)

  • Developing an understanding of the Waldorf approach to child development

  • Providing written mid-year and end-of-year reports for each student, in addition to communicating with parents throughout the academic year

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues

  • Regular attendance at the Grades and Full Faculty meetings

We offer a competitive starting salary of $20,600 for this half-time role, adjusted upward based on your professional background and educational level.
